Ikea Mittzon Compatible Solid Wood Desk Tops

The lacquer and hardwax oil we use are selected for their durability, but even the toughest materials require proper care. To keep your desktop in the best possible condition for years to come, please follow these guidelines:

• Clean with care – use a warm, lightly soapy, damp cloth for regular cleaning.
• Avoid harsh cleaners – any products containing abrasives, ammonia, bleach, alcohol, or harsh chemicals like sanitising sprays must be avoided.
• Do not use spray cleaners directly on the surface, as they may degrade the lacquer's protective layer. Avoid wax as well, as it can build up and alter the finish.
• Be gentle in the first two weeks after installation to avoid damaging the lacquer as it cures fully.
• Always use a mouse mat – wear from repeated movement isn’t covered by the warranty.
• Heat-sensitive – use mats under hot items to prevent damage, in fact, it's good practice to follow at all times.
• Oiled finishes need extra care – they are less resistant than lacquered finishes and will require periodic reapplication. Clean up spills immediately, as prolonged exposure can lead to permanent staining.
• Protect against heat – the undersides of laptops, docking stations and some power extensions can generate considerable heat. Please take precautions to prevent any heat damage.

Natural wood products are sensitive to environmental factors. Significant temperature changes can cause warping or twisting. Please keep this in mind if placing your desktop in air-conditioned rooms, near active radiators, or in direct sunlight and adjust placement as needed.

UV-Protection

"Any clear UV protective coating will only be active until its UV inhibitors absorb to the point of becoming inactive and are therefore not an option for long-term protection." As a result of much research, including speaking to manufacturing experts we are unable to offer a uv-resistant finish option for interior tops.

Real wood tops will build character over time and the colour of the wood warms with increased exposure to sunlight and ultraviolet light.  To avoid contrasting marks on the surface, we recommend regularly moving stationary objects such as lamps, monitor stands, plants etc as well as using anti-fade window film and/or a covering for your top.

Desktops are made-to-order on an average 4-6 week lead-time.  As with all our customers we want to make sure that your top is just as it should be, which means we take our time to do a great job.  

As soon as your top is ready we'll be in touch to arrange a convenient delivery date.  

As standard tops are dispatched with FedEx on a pre-noon next day delivery service.  This service is included in the price and is to the building entrance only.

You can upgrade to a "two man delivery" service which includes your desktop being delivered to a room of choice (including upper floors) within the building.  The additional cost is around £45-60 depending on your postcode and is billed separately.

Returns

As custom size tops are made to your specifications we are unable to provide a refund unless the top is faulty.  

If your top arrives damaged or there are any manufacturing issues, collection will be arrange and your top will be reworked or replaced as soon as possible.

Our desktops are guaranteed against any manufacturing faults for a whole year from the date of delivery. Please read the desktop care instructions.

Damage, splitting, discolouration etc due to heat or light exposure is not coverd by the guarantee.

Our full stave, solid wood desktops are 25mm and 32mm thick as standard with tops of 40mm and anywhere in-between available to order via quote request. Reclaimed boards vary between 33-35mm thickness.

Finish options include hardwax oil and clear matt lacquer, stains and cable grommet drillings.
